FaithDial: A Faithful Benchmark for Information-Seeking Dialogue (2022.tacl-1)

Copied to clipboard

Challenge: a new benchmark for hallucination-free dialogues is based on knowledge-based conversational models that generate unsupported utterances . a recent study shows that models that are trustworthy generate unverifiable or factually incorrect statements .
Approach: They propose a data-centric solution to edit hallucinated responses in the Wizard of Wikipedia benchmark.
Outcome: The proposed model improves on the Wizard of Wikipedia benchmark while maintaining engaging conversations.
Cross-Lingual Dialogue Dataset Creation via Outline-Based Generation (2023.tacl-1)

Copied to clipboard

Challenge: Multilingual task-oriented dialogue (ToD) datasets suffer from severe limitations, such as being small in scale and lacking naturalness and cultural specificity in the target language.
Approach: They propose a novel outline-based annotation process where domain-specific abstract schemata of dialogue are mapped into natural language outlines.
Outcome: The proposed approach improves understanding, dialogue state tracking, and end-to-end dialogue evaluation in Arabic, Indonesian, Russian, and Kiswahili.

Challenge: The Universal Morphology project provides broad-coverage instantiated morphological inflection tables for hundreds of diverse languages.
Approach: They propose a language-independent feature schema for rich morphological annotation and a type-level resource of annotated data in diverse languages realizing that schema.
Outcome: The proposed schema has added 66 new languages, including 24 endangered languages.
Parameter Space Factorization for Zero-Shot Learning across Tasks and Languages (2021.tacl-1)

Copied to clipboard

Challenge: Currently, there are only 24 languages in the world that have not been annotated . transferring knowledge across domains is a common solution .
Approach: They propose a Bayesian generative model for the space of neural parameters that factorizes into latent variables for each language and each task.
Outcome: The proposed model can perform better than state-of-the-art methods with a typologically diverse sample of 33 languages from 4 continents and 11 families.
